Proceeds Will Benefit Friends of Fort Totten Parks and New York City Veterinary Emergency Response Team.
Central Veterinary Associates (CVA) is sponsoring a low-cost microchip clinic during the Friends of Fort Totten Parks’ 10th Annual “Family Fun Day” on June 14. It will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at Crocheron Park, located at 33rd Ave. and 215th Place, in Queens.
For a donation of $25, veterinarians from CVA will help protect your pet with a Home Again microchip. The microchip, which will be implanted under the skin of pets, is essential for their well-being and safety. The American Humane Association reports that nearly 10 million dogs and cats are lost in the U.S. every day. Microchipping pets will significantly decrease the chances of being lost or stolen, and ensure that they can be found safely and in a timely manner.
All of the proceeds will go to Friends of Fort Totten Parks and the New York City Veterinary Emergency Response Team (NYC VERT). In addition to the clinic, there will be child safety groups, police and fire education, pet adoption, educational groups, adult health screenings, and other activities. There will be games and activities for children as well.
“We are proud to offer this low-cost microchip clinic at this exciting family event,” said Dr. John Charos, President/CEO, Central Veterinary Associates. “We urge all pet owners to have their pets microchipped. There is nothing more heartbreaking than losing a pet. By having your pet microchipped, you are ensuring your pet’s safety and also helping a worthwhile cause.”
The event is being presented by The Friends of Fort Totten Parks and the Northeast Queens Park Administrator. Onsite registration is available.
